Body fat is bad. At least, that’s most people’s perception. But body fat is not all bad. Let’s get a feel for why some body fat can be good.

Mention the word fat and people shudder, thinking diets must be no fat, bodies must be fat-free and that fat is an evil being that must be avoided at all cost.

Years ago fat was a treat, something to be enjoyed, eaten with bread. Now the pendulum has swung the other way. Too far the other way because fats are not all bad. In fact, the body needs some fat from food. Fat is necessary for energy reserves. It provides vitamins such as A, D and E, and essential fatty acids, for example.
