24 Qualification and Type Approval
The Bluetooth qualification process ensures conformance to the Bluetooth specification. Only products passing the qualification process are permitted to use the Bluetooth brand. This will mean that consumers know that devices carrying the brand can be relied upon to work correctly.
The Bluetooth promoters (Ericsson in particular) have key patents on Bluetooth technology. License to use these patents is granted free to manufacturers whose products pass Bluetooth qualification procedures.
