Change facial proportions

At first you will hardly notice any difference between these two pictures. But if you look more closely you will see that the eyes and mouth are more pronounced in the bottom picture. We changed the proportions of some image details to draw more attention to these areas.

Enlarge hat

First we want to give a bigger frame to the eyes and push unfavorable contours more into the background. To that purpose, we need to enlarge the hat without affecting the face. Duplicate the background with

Adapt face

Create a layer mask on this layer and paint with black over all areas which you do not want to appear wider. Use the Brush tool (B, Size 80 pixels, Hardness 40%, Opacity 100%). We hid the background in this picture to show how you can better judge the unmasked areas. As you can see, soft transitions are sufficient in the hair and the neck area. Only at the rim of the hat we need to work a bit more precisely. Now show the background again.
