Live Upgrade and Logical Volume Managers

LU is logical volume manager-aware and is capable of working with disks managed by an LVM, such as Solstice DiskSuite or VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM) software. However, due to constraints imposed by VxVM and Solstice DiskSuite software, LU cannot directly assign a VxVM volume or Solstice DiskSuite metadevice for the root file system of a new BE. After a BE is activated and booted, the boot disk can be mirrored using the appropriate VxVM or Solstice DiskSuite software procedure. VxVM requires additional reboots during the boot-disk encapsulation process. Similarly, Solstice DiskSuite software requires additional reboots when performing the root-mirroring process.
