Chapter 5. Configuring a Boot Disk With VERITAS Volume Manager

This chapter describes the issues and concerns involved in encapsulating and managing a boot disk with VERITAS Volume Manager (VxVM). One of the goals of this chapter is to provide methods for addressing the complexity of the configuration introduced when a boot disk is encapsulated using VxVM. Using the default method, VxVM invokes a number of exceptions and special cases to encapsulate and mirror a boot disk, making the configuration atypical and difficult to manage.
