Tier 1—Quality Tester
Abstract
A Quality Tester can have a range from low to high technical skills. At the low end, a quality tester merely has to know how to use the software in question. This may involve highly specific and technical skills in the operation of that software. A Quality Tester doesn’t have to know how the software works, or even how to write software; the critical skills for a Quality Tester are being able to consistently cause software to break and being able to communicate to those who can then attempt to fix the problems. Hence there are opportunities for both those who are highly technically skilled and those with limited technical skills.
