Few executives pay much attention to the dynamics that await them as they join the top team. Many assume that the team will function on autopilot with such bright and talented people among the executive membership. However, such naïveté can seriously impact team effectiveness. Indeed, any executive that fails to pay attention to executive team dynamics is likely to alienate themselves from the workforce. The poor team performance described in the previous chapter is inevitable; the world of "them" is further exacerbated and organizational greatness becomes an elusive dream.
