Getting Ready

Before you get started, you should get your computer ready for the incredible tasks you’re about to perform. If you have Windows Vista installed on your computer already, you’re almost there. If not, no worries; the installation CD or DVD makes it easy to install the operating system as well as transfer data from an old computer to your new one. For more information about transferring data prior to an installation, see Chapter 2. Once installed (or before going any further), make sure to check for updates using Windows Update.
