THE PROJECT IN THIS CHAPTER DEMONSTRATES THE operation of a binary ripple counter IC by building an experimental board that shows how each output of the IC operates, using a single LED indicator per output. You could use the board for educational purposes to show how to count in binary, or you could build multiple boards to produce a mock-up of a mainframe computer that looks as though it is performing some really complex calculations!
