THE PROJECT IN THIS CHAPTER SHOWS YOU HOW TO build a flickering LED candle. The end result is a small “candle” with a fairly realistic-looking light output, as shown in Figure 11-1.

This sequencer circuit project drives only a single LED output. Although this does not follow the convention for the sequencer projects in this part of the book, this circuit demonstrates how you can use the binary ripple counter IC from Chapter 10 and modify its output sequence to produce something totally different from what the IC was originally intended for.
