This chapter is split into two main sections:

  • assertiveness, and
  • influencing.

Then we put it all together at the end.


Being assertive makes so many of the interactions you have with others more productive. It is essential when you are reaching agreement, influencing, receiving feedback, having a ‘difficult’ conversation and even speaking at meetings.
