CHAPTER 9

Aligning with the Physical Work Environment

When leaders and organizations implement work-life supports, they are well served to consider the physical work environment, which has a significant impact on the extent to which workers feel supported. Attention to the physical environment is also one of the vehicles through which organizations can help employees meet demands. This chapter offers suggestions for creating a work environment that embraces work-life supports, including strategies to make certain the environment serves employee needs. It also includes approaches to achieve optimal density, make the workplace a magnet, and align functional groups to provide a work environment that is able to serve workers more holistically.
