Ethical and Legal Issues for Broadcast Performers
A.1 Introduction
A broadcast performer may face a number of basic ethical dilemmas and legal decisions. For example, DJs may have to decide whether or not to play a certain song with questionable lyrics, or voice-over announcers may have to decide if they can do a commercial for a product they are morally opposed to, such as fur coats or condoms. Following legal statutes is usually not a question of whether the performer will or won’t, but more a case of not being aware of a specific regulation or perhaps misinterpreting a rule.
