Beyond standby infrastructure that keeps a Data Center running and access controls that bar unauthorized personnel, the greatest protection to a server environment can be a basic set of rules—standards of operation that guide Data Center users about how to work safely in the room and correctly use its infrastructure.

As you read the items that follow, be aware that the list is not all-encompassing. No list of Data Center rules is. First, some basic standards of behavior are left out. It is assumed that anyone visiting or working in the server environment is going to exhibit a minimum of common sense and be respectful of the infrastructure.
