hot aisle

A Data Center aisle, located between two outward-facing server rows, that typically contains a ducted return in the ceiling above for the purpose of drawing hot exhaust away from servers.

house air

Slang for a building's standard air conditioning system used in the general office or standard work areas. Most Data Centers require a dedicated or separate cooling system, but a very small server room might be adequately cooled by house air.
