This chapter considers the relationship between coaching and conscious leadership. To lead oneself and others with conscious awareness requires support to develop the skills required to achieve unconscious competence in this area of leadership practice. This support can be enabled by the learning and application of coaching capabilities both at the level of intrapersonal and interpersonal skills. For example, developing emotional management skills or improved decision-making skills are examples of intrapersonal coaching targets, whilst improving how one collaborates with followers would involve coaching, targeting interpersonal skills.
