Introduction

Throughout the previous chapters of this book, basic concepts, definitions, and methodologies for digital forensic investigations and the management of incidents and the laboratory have been discussed.

This chapter gives a range of cases that illustrate the types of incidents that may be encountered under the general grouping of high technology crimes. There are examples of cases that have been successfully investigated and other examples that highlight occasions when a lack of good processes and procedures have led to investigations that have failed, resulting in considerable embarrassment.
