Appendix 1: Introduction to metadata workshop

The metadata workshop was originally designed as a series of exercises to teach technical services support staff about metadata, but it has been adapted to teach IT staff, chief information officers (CIOs), and also public service librarians the basics about metadata. It is a quick way to understand some of the challenges of working with a range of digital objects, the varying types of information that need to be conveyed, and the lack of authoritative information available about most digital objects.
