11. Working with Themes and Widgets

You may have noticed that I’ve mentioned WordPress themes in the preceding chapters but haven’t really explained what they are. Like a clever tech writer, I was saving all that good information for this chapter.

Themes determine the look of your blog and save you the bother of having to deal with most of the code involved—though if you’re interested in that sort of thing, WordPress allows you to get your hands into as much code as you like. Most people will be happy keeping the default WordPress theme, which is known simply as WordPress Default 1.6 (though some people still use its former moniker, Kubrick).
