Getting Started

In this chapter, we are going to jump right in the deep end and create our first site using Microsoft WebMatrix.

We will start by installing the WebMatrix toolbox on to your Windows PC using the Microsoft Web Platform Installer, a kind of all–in–one download manager and installer. Next, we’ll take a look at the major parts of the WebMatrix Integrated Development Environment (IDE) and the options we have for opening existing projects and creating new sites. Finally, we’ll create our first site and add some dynamic content with some simple server-side functionality.
