There are three major methods to consume data using Power BI: the Desktop, Service, and Mobile. Let's talk about each one in detail and what is special about each tool.

Power BI Desktop

The first tool we'll discuss is the Power BI Desktop. This is a tool that you can download right to your PC or notebook; it is free to download and use. It kind of works like Excel. You create a *.pbix file that connects to your data and displays a report. The report can, and usually does, consist of multiple tabs with a separate report on each tab.
