Summary

This chapter primarily focused on optimizing and debugging tactics, such as writing to the event log, monitoring with Performance Monitor, and using stress-testing tools, for the MyGolfGear.NET site. Specifically, regarding optimization, this chapter covered garbage collection; issues with using unmanaged code; differences in performance for value types versus reference types; the StringBuilder class; and a few operating system, IIS, and networking considerations.

With respect to debugging, this chapter covered profiling and other debugging services as well as stress testing and logging in .NET.
