Ten Flash Tips to Avoid Headaches

When creating content for your Flash Web site:

  1. Use symbols for each graphic object you create.

  2. Test your handiwork early and often by using the Test Movie command.

  3. Don’t lump all of your content into one movie. Instead, break a large site into several small movies that load into an interface.

  4. Don’t use a different frame rate when loading external content into your Flash interface.

  5. Use symbol instances when at all possible instead of creating new content.

  6. Create a separate layer for any ActionScript that is added to keyframes in the timeline.

  7. Label keyframes with meaningful names.

  8. Use symbol linkage to reference Library items with ActionScript.

  9. Use comments with complex lines of ActionScript.

  10. Label layers.
