PREFACE

DIVERSITY, and the tensions that inevitably accompany it, have existed at our country’s core from the beginning. Diversity considerations provoked the Revolutionary War, influenced the nature and content of the United States Constitution, sparked the Civil War, generated race riots in the 1960s, and produced today’s “cultural wars.”
