Being able to extract components from buildings intact is an important part of applying the circular economy. Components that have reached their end-of-life or need repair have to be easily accessible, rather than buried in other materials. Elements of a building that are to be removed as part of a refurbishment, refit or demolition have to be recovered without damage so that they can be reused, remanufactured or recycled.
