Cisco IOS XE Software Overview
Cisco IOS XE is the operating system that runs on all Cisco ASR 1000 series routers. It includes the IOS and various middleware processes (known as managers). Cisco IOS XE represents a hybrid approach that combines the feature richness coming from classical IOS and marries it with the software modularity inherent in IOS XE. Both feature richness and software modularity are critical to an enterprise network.
