Business Modeling for Business Leaders
Abstract
This chapter is about VDML (Value Delivery Modeling Language), a relatively new specification from the Object Management Group (OMG). VDML supports business models that integrate capabilities, collaborations, and value creation to provide a robust representation of how the enterprise works at a level of abstraction suitable for understanding and analysis of business leaders. The chapter first describes the key concepts and relationships represented in VDML along with an overview of the basic graphical diagrams. It then describes how VDML supports the Value Networks of Verna Allee, the Business Model Canvas of Alex Osterwalder, and the Business Model Canvas of Peter Lindgren.
