Another valuable parameter that can be set is the patterns parameter. The patterns parameter specifies that as the system looks through words, it should look for the pattern, recognize it as a variable, and write out the index reference and the contents of the index. For example, suppose the system has 999-999-9999 specified as a pattern for a telephone number. When the system encounters the number 303-682-6882 in raw text, it would write out “Index – telephone number, value – 303-682-6882”.
