With proximity analysis, the system looks for two words that are within a specified number of bytes to each other. The parameters specifying Word A and Word B are set, followed by setting the parameter for the byte differential. The system then looks for all occurrences of the two words within the specified byte differential. The described activity yields a proximity variable.
For example, if Word A is “party” and Word B is “dinner” and the byte differential is “100”, the phrase “…The party is a dinner party” would be returned.
