Before the unstructured data warehouse is built, the analyst/designer needs to know in which database management system (DBMS) the unstructured data warehouse will be built.

There are many considerations to the building of the unstructured data warehouse in a standard database management system. Some of the considerations are:

·         How large will the unstructured data warehouse be? Some DBMS accommodate one volume of data, while other DBMS accommodate another level of volume of data. For example, SMP-based DBMS (that is, symmetric multi processing) can handle moderate volumes of data and MPP-based DBMS (that is, massively parallel processing) can handle very large amounts of data.
