Chapter 3. Developing and Deploying a Skill

In the last chapter, we developed the DragonHunt Alexa game. This served as a basic introduction to building an app for the Amazon Alexa service. As we learned, we can develop an Alexa app consisting of skills and intents, that responds to utterances by executing specific tasks within our app. In the case of DragonHunt, this largely involved manipulating the game state by changing values in the session, until the player defeats the dragon and wins the game. While this was a fun way to see how to build an Alexa app, there’s a lot more that we can do with voice-based apps and the Echo!
