Starting a BI Project
OVERVIEW
The illustration in Figure 12.1 shows the necessary steps to introduce Business Intelligence (BI) to the organization. It is an attempt to marry business analysis with project management techniques. Some will argue that these functions should be separated. Whatever your point of view is, you cannot refute the argument for better communication between these two disciplines that share great responsibilities for making the BI introduction a success. Do not underestimate the challenges ahead: missing data, resistance to change, blatant ignorance, and jamming stations inside and outside the organization; these require a patterned plan of attack to deal with them, such as that shown in the figure.
