Selecting the Renewal Processes and Identifying Stakeholders

The first step in this phase identifies or confirms the key processes that are likely to hold the greatest potential for renewal, based on the findings from the architecture and alignment activities. In this step, the renewal team draws up a short list of areas for investigation, sets the pace of renewal, and provides an initial insight into the scope of the initiative to come. The team defines the “Process-in-Focus” for the project.

Figure 12.2 shows an example of the knowledge produced as a result of this step.
