Modeling the Renewed Process

For small changes, this step updates the models produced in the Understand phase. In more typical situations, the renewal team creates new process models of the alternatives under consideration during this step. It also defines the implications for development of guides and enablers in the next phase, Redevelop. Modeling the renewed process provides the basis for simulation model tests, if they will be conducted.

Techniques

To create models of the alternatives under consideration, use the following techniques:

• Event analysis

• Reverse Ishikawa diagramming

• IGOE or swim lane process modeling
