Lying with Scale
To try to prove that values are jumping all over, someone can change the minimum and
maximum values along the vertical axis and zoom in to a tight view of the chart series, as
shown in the top-left chart in Figure 14.4. If they want to make the sales look smooth, they
can change the maximum value on the axis to something several times larger than the usual
maximum. In this case, the line looks very smooth, as shown in the bottom of Figure 14.4.
