When finalizing your home purchase and making the property your own, three critical dates are the closing date, the date of possession or occupancy, and moving day.
Stripped to its bare bones, on the closing day, sometimes called completion day, you’ll sign papers (actually, your lawyer will review the paperwork with you and get your signature a day or two prior to closing day), pay for your new home, and receive title. What happens on closing day depends on what you do before closing day. If your real estate team is well organized, you may be able to simply wait for your lawyer or agent to call and congratulate you that your home is now registered in your name and the keys are yours.
