Time for action - Changing a process priority

Each process has a priority assigned in order to be taken into account when competing for processing resources (CPU time). The operating system scheduler has the responsibility to manage the tasks queue for each available processor or core. The priority assigned to a process determines a better or worse probability to take the first turn for accessing a processor or the core processing time. The possible priority values for the processes in any modern Windows version are the following (with their corresponding numerical values):
