Explaining message blocks
Let's talk for a minute about message blocks and the TPL. There is a new library that Microsoft has developed as part of the TPL, but it does not ship directly with .NET 4.5. This library is called the TPL
Dataflow library. It is located in the
System.Threading.Tasks.Dataflow namespace. It comes with various dataflow components that assist in asynchronous concurrent applications where messages need to be passed between multiple tasks or the data needs to be passed when it becomes available, as in the case of a web camera streaming video.
