This chapter discussed the details of C++ Standard Library class
string. We discussed assigning, concatenating, comparing, searching and swapping strings. We also introduced a number of methods to determine string characteristics, to find, replace and insert characters in a string, and to convert
strings to pointer-based strings and vice versa. You learned about string iterators and performing input from and output to strings in memory. Finally, we introduced C++11’s new functions for converting numeric values to
strings and for converting
strings to numeric values. In the next chapter, we introduce
structs, which are similar to classes, and discuss the manipulation of bits, characters and C strings.
