Maya is a wonderfully intuitive 3D modeller. It is associated more with animation than with architecture. In terms of compatibility with other software, especially 2D drawing programs, the software can be problematic. Maya is a very complex program, but it is also addictive!

One of the major issues you will encounter is to do with scale. Maya uses a camera setup for whatever view you choose; even if you have not inserted a camera then this is the default setting.
