Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) A general policy that covers all the ways that users might interact with technology in an organization and tells them what they can and cannot do.
access point (AP) Component of a wireless network that serves as a central hub that connects wireless devices to the network. It broadcasts the wireless signal and allows devices to communicate with each other and access resources. Users must know the AP’s service set identifier (SSID) to connect.
advanced persistent threat (APT) A highly sophisticated and targeted attack conducted by skilled threat actors, typically state-sponsored groups, looking to gain access to sensitive data or cause a disruption in operations.
