VLAN Trunking Protocol Overview
VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP) is a Layer 2 messaging protocol used to maintain VLAN configuration consistency across your network infrastructure. VTP manages the addition, deletion, and renaming of VLANs throughout the network from a centralized location. VTP introduces the concept of a server switch, which communicates these changes through the VTP to all the other switches in your network.
