Predicting the Contents of the MAC Address Table

As explained in Chapter 6, switches learn MAC addresses and then use the entries in the MAC address table to make a forwarding/filtering decision for each frame. To know exactly how a particular switch will forward an Ethernet frame, you need to examine the MAC address table on a Cisco Nexus switch. To derive how this is done, we will use Figure 8-3 and manually build what we believe to be a MAC address table for each switch. It is important to understand how the switch will utilize the MAC address table to forward flows. Your task is to take out a piece of paper and try to build what you believe to be the MAC address table on each Nexus switch.
