Transport Flow Optimization (TFO) is the fundamental layer of WAAS WAN optimization. It provides optimizations that improve TCP behavior under problematic network conditions such as latency, packet loss, retransmission, and congestion. With TFO, communication nodes in the branch and data center are shielded from the WAN conditions, and Cisco WAAS manages the WAN challenges on behalf of the network nodes.
