Chapter 23. Implementing OSPF for IPv6
When IPv6 was defined back in the 1990s, Open Shortest Path First Version 2 (OSPFv2) was a popular routing protocol for IPv4 networks. IPv6 needed routing protocols. One solution was to create a new version of OSPF: OSPF Version 3 (OSPFv3). The original OSPFv3 RFC defined a routing protocol to advertise IPv6 routes, using many similar concepts as compared to OSPFv2, but with of course some differences.
Because OSPFv2 (for IPv4) and OSPFv3 (for IPv6) have many similarities, you already know a lot about OSPFv3 from earlier Chapters 7, 8, and 11 of this book. This chapter takes advantage of those similarities to help you learn OSPFv3 more quickly.
