EIGRP (RFC 7868) is a distance vector protocol. Instead of keeping link-state information for every router in the topology the way OSPF does, an EIGRP router only knows each neighbor's cost to a given prefix. The concept of distance vector protocols is fairly easy to grasp. The most complex thing about EIGRP is the way it calculates the cost of each route.
