When redistributing into OSPF, you have more options than other routing protocols, as shown in Example 17-16. The metric option allows you to provide a seed metric at the redistribution point. The default seed metric is 20 with OSPF; therefore, providing a metric is not mandatory. If you forget to provide a metric, redistributed routes will still be advertised to other routers in the OSPF domain.
