Desktop Messaging
Cisco Unity Express has a built-in integrated messaging server (IMS). The IMS uses Integrated Messaging Access Protocol (IMAP) to provide messaging functionality through IMAP clients (email) over Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) on non-SSL connections.
IMAP clients’ voicemail messages are attachments to email messages. Subscribers can get, delete, or change the state of voicemail messages through IMAP clients. Subscriber restrictions include not being able to retrieve broadcast or private messages.
Supported IMAP clients include the following:
• Microsoft Outlook (2000, 2002, 2003 and 2007)
• Microsoft Outlook Express 6.0
• Microsoft Entourage 2004
• IBM Lotus Notes (6, 6.5)
