Upgrading the Ceph monitor nodes

Upgrading a Ceph monitor is a simple process and should be done one monitor at a time. At a high level, you will need to enable the Jewel repositories, update the permission on the monitor directories, and reboot the monitor to complete the upgrade. Let's have a further look in detail at how to upgrade the Ceph monitor:

  1. Update to Ceph yum repositories by editing the ceph.repo file in /etc/yum.repos.d from Hammer to Jewel in all of your Ceph nodes and clients:
 
  1. As root, stop the monitor process on the first monitor you will be upgrading:
        # sudo /etc/init.d/ceph stop mon
