Leadership changes happen all the time. When a leader gets moved into a new role or leaves the company, you must work with his or her replacement. The problem is that the replacement doesn't know the details of your project or have any particular allegiance to it. It is important to quickly establish a relationship with the new leader and get to know his or her interests and priorities. You can then frame your project within this context, and you'll be more likely to get a positive response.
